GREG A SCHILLING's Milwaukee Brewers Fan Profile
Extended profile
Who am I?
Brewer fan since the very first opening day for the Brewers when my dad took me to the old County Stadium. Have been watching them since mostly as a way to get through summer and on to football. Times have changed and hopefully you can enjoy my excitement in our team that is becoming the very thread of what makes up our city.

Last night Brewers 7 - Pirates 4. We beat them again for the 16 time in a row vs. the Pirates.
It was a game that started off with high hopes for two reason, 'YO' was on the mound and we were playing the Pirates. The first part soon started to give you an uneasy feeling as you watched the Pittsburgh hitters make good contact on many of the pitches from Yo and he was wild in the strike zone. I went into full panic mode when he walked Maholm on four straight pitches to load the bases but got out of the jam without much damage other then pitches piling up.
As the game progressed our hitters were just not getting to Maholm and the pirates continued to send some more lazars about the ballpark on Yo. The almost catch in center by Cameron looked to be catchable for someone of his talent but rang his bell and was discarded as a tough out.
When you watched the fabulous catch in left filed by Duffy the back-up to the back-up for Ryan Braun who was out of the line again you then thought about how he could make that catch and Cameron the regular position player didn’t.
The move to put Bill Hall in left seemed to be a very strange move because of the fact we had a 3rd baseman who was making spectacular plays all season and then there was Duffy who could step in and play left which he proved he could not only handle but provide a web gem. It seemed to cause us to be weak in two positions instead of what might have been one position and turned out to be none.
The lack of hitting in the early inning was piling up once again until we were down 3 - 1 and even Yo couldn't pull us out with his hitting.
They showed Braun in the dugout after flying in late from Milwaukee because all of the places that do MRI's are closed on Sunday and don't open till later on Monday for some reason. He would come in handy later.
Down 3 - 1 you just had that feeling we were going to find a way to win and with the bases loaded against Capps out of the dugout strolls Brauny with a bat in his hand and a calm look in his eye. We all felt its great but this guy has had one hit in the last 6 games for his team, plus we were not quite sure if he was even up to playing yet but he had that look and he was in uniform. So the stage was set and after two strikes he had Capps right where he wanted him. As I watched his slight pop-up to right field near the line you could tell it was fair but you could see the speed in the infielders and right fielder and you knew it had a chance, I leaned into the stroke by Braun on a tough outside pitch just like Cooper's hit back in the days and plunk it fell untouched by any Pirate to give us the lead. It was like a dream come true to see our hero back in spikes and ready for battle and providing another dramatic moment in Brewer history.
Then the bottom of the 8th when DiFelice couldn't keep the Pirates off the board. That extra run just seemed like too much after the great comeback just a half inning ago.
That extra run just didn’t matter to the Brewers who quickly got some men on base and tied it up on J.J.’s sac fly. The game was tied once again.
But wait!!! Ricky was up with tow men on and when Capp’s missed out over the plate Mr. Weeks jumped on his mistake and rocketed it into the left filed stands for a three run home run and a lead that was easy to keep for Mr. Hoffman the all time saves leader.
Bring’Em on again those whipping boys fro Pittsburgh.
