Edinson Volquez

Have the Brewers forgotten that they face Edinson Volquez tonight? Last time he faced the Brewers he struck out 10 batters. If anbody in the National League has a suggestion for solving Volquez it usually involves taking opportunity of his mistakes, something the Brewers have had immense trouble with over the past 10 games. If their struggles continue and Volquez is on form, the drama in the Brewers clubhouse could continue to boil beyond repair.

You’ve certainly heard of Johnny Cueto and Edinson Volquez, the two fireballing phenoms around which the Reds are building their future. Volquez has been electric, with a 10-2 record to go with a microscopic 1.71 ERA and 1.17 WHIP and 110 Ks against 45 walks. Cueto has similar strikeout numbers (81 against 34 walks) but has been more hittable, with a 5-7 record against a 5.01 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, although those numbers have been improving since the start of the season.

The Reds went all homer-happy over the Cubs last night, and Edinson Volquez twirled a gem on the mound, leading the Reds commentators and Steve Phillips on ESPN to go all gushy on them, proclaiming the future is now and they're gonna take the NL Central. Is this the case?
